7th Annual Pacific Coast Invitational High School Rugby Tournament, April 29 - May 1, 2011

The Northern California Youth Rugby Association (NCYRA) is proud to announce the 7th Annual Pacific Coast Invitational High School Rugby Tournament (PCIT). The event, for high school age boys and girls, takes place from April 29 – May 1.   
Its relocation to the Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center offers 8 championship grass fields and 2 practice turf fields that will accommodate the high demand of Teams planning to participate in this year’s tournament.

The tournament is open to all high school age Teams from Northern California, the United States and around the world. Given the level of play in the region, paired with the choice of competitive Divisions, all Teams can expect high quality, competitive matches. A Middle School (Under 14) Division will also be added for the first time. In addition, the PCIT will include the NCYRA Playoffs & Championships, taking the PCIT to the next level by adding an even more energized and festive atmosphere.

Tournament Divisions:
  • Boys Varsity Gold (open competition and Playoffs)
  • Girls Varsity Gold (U-19* open competition and Playoffs)
  • Boys Varsity Silver (open competition and Playoffs)
  • Girls Varsity Silver (U-19* open competition)
  • JV (Frosh/Soph) Gold (open competition and Playoffs)
  • JV (Frosh/Soph) Silver (open competition and Playoffs)
  • Middle School (U-14) Division (open competition)
* Girls competition is a true U-19 competition


Friday (3:00 pm to 6:00 pm): NCYRA Boys & Girls Varsity Gold “Final 4” Semi-Final matches - 70 minutes each. Banquet.

Saturday (9:00 am to 7:00 pm): Depending upon the total number of Teams competing within each Division, Teams can expect either three (3) 30 minute matches, or two (2) 45 minute matches in bracket play, for a total of 90 minutes. Plus NCYRA Varsity Gold “Final 4” Consolation & Championship Matches - 70 minutes each. 
*As some Clubs cannot compete on Sunday’s, the PCIT will accommodate Clubs who agree to play 90 minutes of rugby on Saturday, as long as the competition remains “balanced.”

Sunday (9:00 am to 3:00 pm): Division Teams get two (2) 30 minute matches in Consolation and Semi- Final /Championship Matches, for a total of 60 minutes, or one full length match of 70 minutes.

Teams are guaranteed at least 150 minutes of rugby over the weekend.

Tournament Registration Fees:  $250/Team. Clubs are encouraged to enter multiple Teams. Varsity Gold “Final 4” Team fees will be fully subsidized by the NCYRA. High School Divisional Playoff Teams will be subsidized $100 per Team. Teams must register for the PCIT in advance and Playoff Teams will be reimbursed once those Teams are finalized.

Hotel information: There are 5 hotels located across the street from the fields: Microtel, Comfort Inn, Executive Inn, Ramada and Quality Inn. Holiday Inn Express is just a few blocks away on Dunne. The Marriott Courtyard is 10 blocks away.

Location: The facility is conveniently located 26 miles south of San Jose Airport (SJC), and 57 miles south of San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK) Airports. Tournament Amenities: Food, beverages, tournament paraphernalia, and rugby gear (from www.iarugby.com) will be available at the tournament grounds. Event sponsors are being sought.
