Lasell College Rugby: 2014/2015 Assistant Coach Roles (Men’s & Women’s)

The Lasell College Rugby program is currently recruiting assistant coaches for the 2014/2015 year. The right candidates will have prior experience playing or coaching rugby.

Their men’s team competes in NERFU DIII competition against the following programs: UMass Boston, Curry College, Tufts University & Salem State. They are a very ambitious program and they have had success in their short life so far. The women’s team is brand new for 2014/2015 but have recruited an enthusiastic group of girls who have been hitting the practice field since last fall.

Practices will be held early mornings with most games on Sundays. They would like the appointed candidates to attend some practices and games but are also interested in hearing from candidates that could only assist us on game days.


Basic duties will be as follows:

  • Teaching the core skills of rugby
  • Coaching of the team, units (backs/forwards) and individuals
  • Coaching of the scrum, lineouts, breakdown and/or back play
  • Assist with team meetings / video analysis sessions
  • Develop both rookie and experienced players

Georgia Tech Women’s Rugby Football Club seek Head Coach

The Georgia Tech Women’s Rugby Football Club is seeking qualified candidates to be their next Head coach. They are in search for a coach with experience in the back line to complement our existing forwards coach.

The team is a collegiate women’s Division I club in Atlanta, GA and a member of SIRC- the South Independent Rugby Conference. The club is made up of a core group of third and fourth year students with a plan to have many rookies in the fall. The Georgia Tech women’s team made it to 7s and 15s Nationals this year and aim to be playing at the National level in the following years as well.

Qualified head coach candidates will have knowledge of current USA Rugby laws and have a current USA Rugby Coaching Certification (or be willing to complete a course). He or she will be expected to teach safe and proper technique to beginning level players while challenging and integrating the skills of higher-level players.

The head coach will be expected to plan and implement two-hour practices twice per week and attend matches on Saturdays and some Sundays for tournaments during the spring and fall seasons, as well as coordinate with the assistant coaches. The club are looking for individuals who conduct practice in a dynamic manner and for a coach that can guide us to becoming a Varsity team.

There will be a small stipend and travel expenses will be covered.

The Harvey School seeking Girls Varsity Rugby Coach



The Harvey School is a private grade 6-12 in Katonah, NY. It is seeking a Girls Rugby Varsity Head Coach, which provides a salary of $3,000-4,000, depending on experience and background. The starting date is February 24, 2014.

The ideal candidate will have coaching experience with high school age girls and an education background (not a must). Solid fundamental rugby knowledge is needed, as all girls will be new to the game. Patience and excellent communication skills are required. Practice times would be 330-440 every day of the week.

Siena Women's Rugby seeking Volunteer Coach


Siena Women's Rugby is seeking a volunteer to assist in preparation for the spring season.  The club is specifically seeking supplemental assistance in the training of the forwards, which would include fundamentals, scrum and cadence. The volunteer position would be an additional forward's perspective of the head coach's training.

Village Lions Mens team seeking Head Coach

The Village Lions Rugby Football Club is seeking a men’s Head Coach, beginning February 2014. The Lions are currently in their 25th year and field men’s A and B teams in Division II of the Empire Geographic Union, with over 60 rostered players. The team won the Northeast in Division II in 2010 and is looking to build on its strengths to be in a position to win the newly-restructured Empire GU Division II competition in the 2014-15 season. We are seeking an experienced coach who can oversee the realization of that goal.

The Head Coach is expected to create an advanced, comprehensive system of play for the team, taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of our players. He will demonstrate professionalism and leadership in articulating that vision and developing training systems to teach it and hone the skills necessary to implement it. Travel expenses will be covered by the Club, and a coaching stipend may be available for negotiation.

Minimum Requirements include the following:

  • Commitment for Fall 2014 through Spring 2015
  • Ability to plan and execute two practices a week (Tuesday and Thursday nights) plus attend home and away games on Saturdays during the Fall and Spring seasons
  • Level 1 USA Rugby Coaching Certification and significant experience coaching senior men’s clubs. A track record of coaching achievement
  • Strong leadership skills. Must provide positive coaching, fair assessment/feedback, and open communication with club officers and player

Georgetown University WRFC seeks Head Coach

Georgetown University Women’s Rugby Football Club is seeking a head coach for their spring season. 

They are looking for someone with previous coaching experience who is able to commit to practices twice a week on Monday and Thursday nights, as well as Saturday games. Their spring season lasts from the end of February to early April. 

Responsibilities outside of weekly coaching include communicating with the team’s two captains, and planning practices.
The team currently consists of approximately 25 dedicated student-athletes. There is a $600 stipend for this position.

Syracuse University Women's Team Seeking Coach

The Syracuse University Women’s Rugby Football Club is seeking a head coach to lead and instruct the squad of about 35 players. SUWRFC is a DI team in the collegiate women’s DII Empire GU conference, and finished with a record of 5-2 in the fall of 2013. SUWRFC recently went to the American College Rugby Association’s division I sweet 16 playoffs this November to compete against teams such as Norwich and Brown.

Syracuse is looking for a coach to start during the spring 2014 season. The team practices 3 days a week with times TBD in the spring and competes in 3 tournaments on the weekends throughout the spring. We practice 5 days a week during the fall from 5-7pm, with matches on Saturdays. Previous coaching experience is preferred, but not required, as we welcome anyone with rugby experience who is interested in coaching.

Tufts Rugby looking for Assistant Coach (Forwards)


The Tufts Rugby program is currently recruiting for an assistant coach for the Fall 2013 season. A stipend is available for the right candidate who ideally will specialize in coaching our forwards.

They compete in DII competition against the following programs: Boston University, Coast Guard Academy, Norwich, University of New Hampshire, University of Rhode Island, University of Vermont. They are a very ambitious program and are hoping to gain varsity status here at Tufts.

Practices are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings with games being on a Saturday afternoon. They would like the appointed candidate to attend at least 3 of these 4 weekly events (For high level candidates they may approve just 2 attendances per week).

Basic duties will be as follows:
  • Coaching of the team, unit (forwards) and individuals 
  • Coaching of the scrum, lineouts, rucks and mauls 
  • Assist with team selection 
  • Assist with team meetings / video analysis sessions (Before and/or after practice) 
  • Develop both rookie and experienced players

American University Women’s Rugby seeks Coach


American University Women's Rugby is looking for a coach this upcoming Fall 2013-Spring 2014 season. AUWRFC is a competitive DII collegiate club which practices Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5PM-7PM (4PM-6PM during Daylight Savings Time) in the Tenleytown area. Games are generally every Saturday during the season at locations throughout the MD/DC/VA area. The coach's travel expenses will be covered by the team. We also hope to have our assistant coaches stay on board and help out our new head coach as much as possible.

AUWRFC won the PRU Championship this past year and played in Round 32 Playoffs of Nationals. The team is made up of hard-working, motivated young women, and typically has around 20 returners in addition to new rookies that join each year through heavy recruitment. The team's leadership is made up of an Executive Board of 11 players including a president, two captains, a match secretary, treasurer, and others who help the season transition smoothly. There is a lot of talent on this team, and the 2013-2014 season should be another successful year.

Previous leadership and/or coaching experience is desired, but not required, and we welcome recently retired players who are interested in coaching. USA Rugby coaching certification is required, but AUWRFC will help the right person obtain this certification.

Village Lions Womens looking for Head Coach


The Village Lions Rugby Club Women's Team is looking for a Head Coach. The 11-year-old team is entering its second season as Division I team and competes in USA Rugby's Competitive Region 3 that spans from Atlanta to Boston.

The Women's team is comprised of people committed to attending practice, playing hard/winning, and having a good time. Their ideal coach should have the same commitment. The position is salaried with some flexibility depending on experience, availability, etc. for the fall and
spring seasons combined. Will sponsor for Visa and assist with Visa application/filing cost if necessary.

The Women practice Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7:30pm - 9:00pm. Practice is in the Bronx, off the 5 or 2 train at the 149th Street/Grand Concourse. Games are Saturdays in various locations, some involving overnight travel (travel cost will be covered by the team).

Play Rugby USA looking for Executive Director in California

Play Rugby USA just announced they are seeking a Founding Executive Director for their California Chapter. 

The California Chapter was established in 2010 and has successfully piloted flag rugby youth development programs in 20 schools throughout LA. The Bay Area program is due to start later this year. The Executive Director will be responsible for developing funding, networks and programs partnerships across California to support both LA and Bay Area programs.

POSITION(S):
They will be hiring either one or two successful candidates as follows:
1) Full Time Executive Director, Play Rugby USA – California, or
2) Part Time Executive Director and Part Time Program Manager.

Proposed start date: September, 2011.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience and performance based. Please note, as this is a Founding Executive Director position, part of the salary will be based upon the individual's ability to raise the capital required to sustain the chapter.

Head Coach Position: American University Womens Team

American University Women's Rugby (AUWRFC) is looking for a Head Coach to join them this upcoming Fall 2011 season.

Coach needed for Womans University team in Maryland

Received an email, via the PRU, from Erin Arentz who is the captain of Mount St. Mary's University Women's RFC, who is looking for a coach:

I am the captain for the Mount St. Mary's University Women's RFC in Emmitsburg, MD. Currently, we are without a coach. We have a full team of around 20 girls. We are looking to be a serious team and build on the growth we have already achieved. We are not playing any games this semester, but would like to schedule several games and possibly enter a few tournaments next semester.
