Village Lions Mens team seeking Head Coach

The Village Lions Rugby Football Club is seeking a men’s Head Coach, beginning February 2014. The Lions are currently in their 25th year and field men’s A and B teams in Division II of the Empire Geographic Union, with over 60 rostered players. The team won the Northeast in Division II in 2010 and is looking to build on its strengths to be in a position to win the newly-restructured Empire GU Division II competition in the 2014-15 season. We are seeking an experienced coach who can oversee the realization of that goal.

The Head Coach is expected to create an advanced, comprehensive system of play for the team, taking into account the strengths and weaknesses of our players. He will demonstrate professionalism and leadership in articulating that vision and developing training systems to teach it and hone the skills necessary to implement it. Travel expenses will be covered by the Club, and a coaching stipend may be available for negotiation.

Minimum Requirements include the following:

  • Commitment for Fall 2014 through Spring 2015
  • Ability to plan and execute two practices a week (Tuesday and Thursday nights) plus attend home and away games on Saturdays during the Fall and Spring seasons
  • Level 1 USA Rugby Coaching Certification and significant experience coaching senior men’s clubs. A track record of coaching achievement
  • Strong leadership skills. Must provide positive coaching, fair assessment/feedback, and open communication with club officers and player

If interested, please provide a résumé to the coaching committee to rugbydirector@villagelions.org

Upon receipt of your résumé, a representative of the team’s coaching committee will contact you with further details and interview information.
