3rd Annual Mayor's Cup Rugby Festival this Saturday in NYC

Play Rugby USA will be hosting their 3rd annual Mayors Cup this Saturday form 9am to 5pm on Randall's Island.  The event is the largest youth event of its kind in Manhattan and will have more than 650 kids playing from elementary schools, middle schools, and the debut of the first ever public high school sevens league

With its Olympic theme this year, to celebrate rugby being re-introduced to the games in 2016, each of the teams will represent a different country from around the world with specially designed shirts made for them by the folks at Rugby Ink

I had the great pleasure to do my very first podcast for a rugby life at last year's cup.  It's a really amazing event to attend and I strongly encourage if you in the city, make the effort to head over to the island to watch.   And if you want to get more involved, Play Rugby are happy to have more volunteers and all interested parties should email Bryan Vale (bryan.vale@playrugbyusa.com) for more details.   I will be one of the many volunteer team managers of this year, so if you at the event, come on over, say hi and cheer on the kids!

To get to Randalls, if you are travelling by car, follow directions to the Island, then park at Icahn stadium (http://randallsisland.org/maps-directions/getting-to-randalls-island/#car). There are signs posted on the island, so look for signs to fields 72-75.
For travel by mass transit, take the 4, 5, or 6 train to 125th street. From 125th street, you can take the M35 bus from the Northwestern corner of the intersection. The bus drops you off a 10-15 minute walk from the fields.  Here is a link to the map of Randall's Island where the games will be played.

And finally, for your viewing pleasure, here are some photos taken from last years cup. Enjoy!
